Literary Arts Intensive Drama Program:
Storytelling & Solo Stage Performance
Lessons adjusted to each student's level with suitable challenges
Twice a week for 12 weeks (24 sessions lasting 50 minutes each)This course merges the creative joy of drama with the rigor of traditional literature classes. We begin with the contemporary stories that many young learners already know and love before building up to an exploration of classical poetry as we learn the fundamentals of theater and stage presence.Students will learn about stage blocking, breath control, vocal precision, non-verbal communication, characterization, story arcs, literary devices, and more!Progress relies on teacher instruction and feedback along with the assignments and revisions participants complete between sessions. Students will develop a portfolio of 4 written assignments and 4 solo performances in a variety of styles:
Media literacy: a 5-paragraph essay exploring film as literature and one dramatic reading of a contemporary text
Self expression: one narrative monologue and a theatrical performance of it
Social analysis: one piece of scriptwriting exploring interpersonal relationships and one oral storytelling performance of a traditional story
Linguistic mastery: one personal poem using Shakespearean techniques and one poetry recital from classical literature
Whether it be homework confusion, a sudden need to reschedule, or questions about progress, parents and students are encouraged to reach out with questions or doubts via WhatsApp or Facebook messenger and I will get back to you as quickly as possible during regular business hours.Students who complete the Intensive will have developed a strong foundation in the literary analysis, vocal technique, interpretation, storytelling, and solo performance skills that can support further study in drama, including preparation for formal qualifications such as LAMDA.Most importantly they will have developed into more analytical thinkers, effective writers, and engaging speakers. Whether they continue acting or not, these skills are foundational for students' future success during presentations, essays, debates, exams, and interviews!Investment: $1,080
Paired Enrollment: $720 per student
Students may enroll with one friend or family member of a similar age and level. Each student will complete their own portfolio and receive individualized performance feedback during class.
LAMDA Communication Exams
Choosing to take an exam from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art gives young learners a concrete goal to work towards. It also helps build self-confidence when they receive validation for their achievements and demonstrates their mastery of a topic not only to themselves but to others.My students have consistently progressed through successive LAMDA levels with strong examination results. Passing a LAMDA exam is an accomplishment to be proud of and I can help students who would like to prepare for any of the following ones:

You don't have to participate in one of the LAMDA exams to benefit from taking a preparation course, however! These skills serve students well in IB programs and other competitive environments, regardless of their goals. Whether your child would like to prepare for an assessment, improve their stage presence, or deepen their understanding of literature, I can provided a unique learning plan for your individual needs.Each targeted coaching package that I provide includes:

Sound & Sense Song Seminar
In this 50-minute standalone class for students who would like to try out the Dauntless Voices method, students practice using effective vocal techniques on stage when doing a dramatic reading.We will analyze the lyrics of a contemporary pop song as a form of storytelling and a poetic text. Participants then practice doing their own dramatic reading of it using Alexander Pope's "Sound and Sense" method.Students will develop their ability to read texts for nuance and express themselves with emotional impact. After the class, you will receive written feedback with clear progress goals and a recommended study plan.Investment: $39
About Your Teacher
My educational background focused on studying how human beings use performance and storytelling to express complex ideas or feelings. I studied this both as a performer myself and from an anthropological perspective.After graduation I began teaching around the world in a variety of educational settings, which has allowed me to collaborate with a wide range of students from different cultures and backgrounds.Now, I've created Dauntless Voices to help young learners claim their own distinctive voices in society with fearlessness and confidence. Regardless of their current skill level, I am always excited to embark on a learning journey with a new student!
